What is AAUW Aiken Branch?

AAUW stands for the American Association of University Women and we are proud to be the Aiken Branch for the state and national organizations.  The mission of AAUW is to work towards equity for women and girls.  The Aiken Branch raises funds for education for all, with a focus on educating women.

Who Are We?

We are an active group of women and men with degrees from two-year colleges, four-year universities and graduate institutions.  We count also on our many volunteers. We have members and volunteers of both genders; men are also welcome to join.

What Do We Do?

Believe it or not, 2018 marks our 65th year.  Since 1953, Aiken Branch members have accomplished great things in our community. Members have done the field work to bring USC-Aiken to Aiken County, set up a small children’s museum until the Aiken County Museum took over, sponsored international graduate students, supported book distribution and reading programs, and funded scholarships. We have held a Books-N-Things Fair since 1962, the proceeds from which make it possible for us to support many community organizations. Our Branch also works to educate members and guests on the many issues that concern us all.

Please join us for events, meetings, and our annual Book Fair.  See the calendar for activities, including the Book Fair, and the What We Do page for some of the groups we have supported over the years.
